Monday Manilla Management & Mittens

This weekend was super busy getting ready for AirBnB guests, getting new tenants settled in and school work. Last night I had some much needed chill time before the week started. Now that Monday is here I'm ready for it! Setting my WOW goals was pretty difficult knowing how busy this week will be but I think I can fit it all in.

My Within-One-Week Goals are:
  1. Aqua Jog once.
  2. Study everyday.
  3. Try the gym at work. (why not, it's free!)
  4. Meditate daily.
  5. Pay all bills.
  6. Take care of me too. (Take a bubble bath & have nails done by Karyn).
  7. Journal.

Recieved great advice last week. Touch a piece of paper only once, complete the task it is associated with and either file it or recycle it. My office was filled with stacks of paper. I had stacks of paper hidden in drawers, boxes and out for everyone to see on a fold up table. My intention was to file each and every piece of paper because maybe one day someone or something would like to know my every thought and doodle. Upon consulting a records management professional, all future anthropologists would need is a copy of my email metadata to know every detail about me. Slightly upsetting as I envisioned that after the world ends that someone will come back and want to know what life on earth is about and maybe, just maybe, study little ole me. Crazy thought, right!?

So I got over myself, and began to file correctly. Original signatures and decisions - keep. Doodled notes that supplement formal, digital and approved minutes - toss.

It was the most freeing experience ever. So much so, I came home and began matching mittens and tossing those whose mate were missing in action. I was truly looking for the mate for my Lole Aisha glove. No luck. I did a thorough search for the missing glove by searching the house, the cars, the garage, even went so far to check instagram's #ifoundyourmitten tags and website: www.ifoundyourmitten.com. No luck on all accounts.

If you find my glove please tag me on your #ifoundyourmitten post.

How did I get from Monday, to filing recommendations to a missing favourite mitten? Who knows. I'm more confused than you are in all likelihood. The whole intention of this blog is to document healing. Actually, finding my lost glove will be very healing. Please find it internet world. It is the perfect fit and those are so hard to find. I wish I had a good OJ joke here. Think of one yourself and laugh out loud. Next instagram sensation #ifoundyoursenseofhumour.

    About me

I grew up in Athabasca, AB and have spent the majority of my life in Northern Alberta or Montreal, PQ. My husband has been in Fort McMurray since the 70s and continues to love this town and all that it has to offer. We are avid outdoor enthusiasts, spending our summer weekends quadding and camping. As Opimian members we thoroughly enjoy wine pairings and tastings and are working on our wine collection. Ralph is a carpenter by trade and has framed more houses in Fort McMurray than I could count and knows the city inside and out. I work all throughout the region from the NWT to Janvier for the tribal council. My passion is doodling and photography which is featured throughout the website (various mediums), writing, Indigenous studies, and learning in general.
